Bosaso College Special Education

Special program for the handicapped

Bosaso College has a program for the less disadvantaged and handicapped people in the society which was initiated to cater for the marginalized due to their physical or mental disabilities. The affected were traumatized as a result of the past atrocities that have impacted negatively in to their normal lifestyle. Under the banner and theme “Disability is not inability” a special program for guiding and counseling for such people was introduced and has been running for the past six months to even the lives of less disadvantaged in the physical or mental disorders.

Various centers in Baidoa and Mogadishu were cited and erected to assist such victims of past atrocities to be looked after from convalescent homes for the old and marginalized, traumatized, disabled and the physical handicapped who are less disadvantaged in life.

There was need of consoling such victims without any kind of discrimination. This program came in handy due to instability of some war-torn areas that have left people homeless, hopeless, loss of property, murder or killing orgy experiences, the old losing their bread winner(s) due to fleeing from such places that were unfavourable for their normal lives.

Despite the challenges of having of strenuous facilities the College in conjunction with the Government of Puntland state have set convalescent homes which run smoothly for some students and people who need constant attention and engrossment from experienced personnel to be on high alert due to their state of life that such people should be given hope and have a sense of belonging to the society.

The program has dedicated and well trained personnel who have managed this program with available facilities at their disposal. The college serves 40 students from both centers, Mogadishu and Baidoa respectively who have shown quite a remarkable response and improvement from their atrocities. The program is expected to transform the lives of many who are less disadvantaged and marginalized people in the near future.... Read more.......
